Madolche Guide ShvF2Ev

The magical dolls called Madolche are by far my favourite archetype. The names of the Madolche monsters are a combination of titles/animal sounds and italian/french desserts; even the name ‘Madolche’ is one (Magic + dolce (means sweets in French and Italian)).

Madolche has always lacked the support they need every format. Even with Hootcake coming, they will not climb out of the tier 2 list as it comes too late, but still very competitively viable. But how do they work? For starters, they all have one effect all monsters share: when they’re sent to the Graveyard, they will go back to the Deck. By recycling themselves, they can be reused as much as possible and attempt to get more resources than the opponent. They achieve this with combos.

Their strengths lie in the fact that they are hard to deck out and they aren’t hurt that much by destruction cards like Dark Hole and Torrential Tribute. Especially when they have one of their searchable Spells on the field.

There’s different builds that Madolche can use. You have the Madolche only deck, which relies on having an empty Grave; the fast T.G. engine that tries to get quick field control and the Beast-type deck, which is slow but uses Hootcake to it’s fullest potential.

I’ll be going over every build, but will explain the Madolche cards first.

Main Cards

Madolche Magileine (Level 4, Earth, Spellcaster) (Magician + Madeleine)
When this card you control is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by effect) and sent to your Graveyard: Shuffle this card into your Deck. When this card is Normal or Flip Summoned: You can add 1 "Madolche" monster from your Deck to your hand.

The Stratos of the deck. It searches any Madolche monster that you want, including itself. Combined with Ultimate Offering, this card is very dangerous and the setup for the OTK; all you need is this card and Ultimate Offering. This card used to be a main card for any Madolche deck, but because of the current meta I decided to move it here. It’s too slow with all the OTK decks around and that’s a weakness to Madolche. The fact that you need Ultimate Offering to make this card become amazing is not worth it in my opinion. This doesn’t change the fact that this card is amazing though, it sets up all the plays you want. Run 3 in TCG, 0-3 in OCG.

Madolche Mewfeuille (Level 3, Earth, Beast) (Mew + millfeuille)
When this card you control is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect) and sent to your Graveyard: Shuffle this card into your Deck. When this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 "Madolche" monster from your hand.

The very heart of the deck and therefor a staple and a must for every single Madolche deck out there. It is the card that sets up every combo (next to the Magileine + Ultimate Offering OTK) If you end up having only this card on the field after your opponent’s turn, don’t be afraid to crash wit hit if you have Ticket. You can then use Ticket’s effect to search a monster, summon Mewfeuille in MP2 and start a combo. Run 3.

Madolche Messengelato (Level 4, Earth, Warrior) (Messenger + Gelato)
When this card in your possession is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by effect) and sent to your Graveyard: Shuffle this card into the Deck. When this card is Special Summoned: You can add 1 "Madolche" Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand. You must control a Beast-Type "Madolche" monster to activate and resolve this effect.

There are a lot of ways you can Special Summon this card, but the main way would be with Mewfeuille. The reason this card is so amazing is because it can search Château, like Butlerusk, but also all of the other Madolche spells and traps. This and the fact that it’s faster makes this card a staple. This card is one of the important cards to the main combo. Run 2-3.

Madolche Hootcake (Level 3, Earth, Beast) (Hoot + Cake) (OCG)
When this card in your possession is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect) and sent to your Graveyard: Shuffle this card into the Deck. You can target 1 monster in your Graveyard; banish that target, then Special Summon 1 "Madolche" monster from your Deck, except "Madolche Hootcake". You can only use this effect of "Madolche Hootcake" once per turn.

The card that makes Madolche viable again. Hootcake actually uses the graveyard to pull off big plusses and is the key to one of the most devastating combos in the Madolche decks. Run 2-3.

Madolche Château
When this card is activated: Shuffle all "Madolche" monsters in your Graveyard into the Deck. All "Madolche" monsters on the field gain 500 ATK and DEF. If a monster(s) in your Graveyard would be returned to the Deck by the effect of a "Madolche" monster, you can add it to your hand instead.

This card is what makes Madolche monsters more powerful, which they obviously need as they’re easily ran over by themselves. This card also prevents the deck from losing most of the resources; if Madolche cards are sent back to the deck they’re useless (except Messengelato) and makes the odds of drawing power cards less likely. Run 3.

Madolche Ticket
When a "Madolche" card(s) is returned from your side of the field or Graveyard to your hand or Main Deck by a card effect: Add 1 "Madolche" monster from your Deck to your hand. If you control a face-up Fairy-Type "Madolche" monster, you can Special Summon the monster from your Deck in face-up Attack Position instead of adding it to your hand. You can only use the effect of "Madolche Ticket" once per turn.

This card is kind of like what Wind-Up Factory is to Wind-Ups. It lets you plus 1 if you do it correct and together with Château it even makes crashing into a stronger monster a plus one. However, use it wisely when you start your combo. If you have Queen Tiaramisu or Puddingcess on the field, it actually lets you special summon a Madolche monster from the deck for more damage output and possibly even an OTK. Run 2.

Madolche Queen Tiaramisu (Rank 4, Earth, Fairy) (Queen/tiara + tiramisu)
2 Level 4 "Madolche" monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target up to 2 "Madolche" cards in your Graveyard; shuffle those cards into the Deck, then shuffle cards your opponent controls into the Deck, up to the number of cards returned.

The one and only boss Madolche monster out there and, in my opinion, one of the best XYZ cards. It’s not hard to summon it with the right setup and the effect is way too good; it’s basically a plus 2 since you send two cards from your opponent back to the deck. To make this effect even more powerful, it doesn’t target those cards! With Château active it’s a plus 4 as you can add monsters back to your hand and if Ticket is also on the field it’s plus 5.

Possible Choices

Run 3 if you use Ultimate Offering and Double Summon, otherwise 0-2.

Madolche Butlerusk (Level 4, Earth, Spellcaster) (Butler + Rusk)
When this card you control is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect) and sent to your Graveyard: Shuffle this card into your Deck. When this card is Normal Summoned: You can add 1 Field Spell Card from your Deck to your hand. There must be another face-up "Madolche" monster on the field to activate and to resolve this effect.

Combined with Magileine, this card searches your Field spell and can instantly make use of it. As opposed to Messengelato, which needs to be Special Summoned and have a Beast-type Madolche on the field, this card only needs a face-up Madolche when it is Normal Summoned. However, it’s only viable with Ultimate Offering and Double Summon as it is, like Magileine, too slow in the current meta and should only be ran at 1 if you’re using those cards.

Madolche Cruffsant (Level 3, Earth, Beast) (Ruff + Croissant)
When this card in your possession is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by effect) and sent to your Graveyard: Shuffle this card into the Deck. Once per turn: You can target 1 face-up "Madolche" card you control, except this card; return it to the hand, and if you do, increase this card's Level by 1 and ATK by 300.

Magileine’s best friend. It can send a Madolche card back to the Hand to raise it’s level. When you have Ticket and Château active, you can send Château back to your hand so you can reuse it’s effect and make Cruffsant’s level 4. In the OTK, Cruffsant helps the setup easier as it lets Magileine to be reused once again for a search, get another Cruff, bounce Magileine again, XYZ both dogs, and so on. This is why you must run him at 3 when you use Ultimate Offering and Double Summon. In the normal deck, you can choose to run it between 0-3.

Madolche Marmalmaide (Level 4, Earth, Spellcaster) (Maid + Marmalade)
When this card in your possession is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by effect) and sent to your Graveyard: Shuffle this card into the Deck. When this card is flipped face-up: You can target 1 "Madolche" Spell/Trap Card in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand.

It can recycle one of the Madolche spell/trap cards and with 2000 defense it’s not a bad card. Using it to get Château you can make her defense 2500 which is a whole lot to deal with. Run 0-2.

Madolche Puddingcess (Level 5, Earth, Fairy) (pudding + princess)
When this card you control is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect) and sent to your Graveyard: Shuffle this card into your Deck. While you have no monsters in your Graveyard, this card gains 800 ATK and DEF. After damage calculation, when this card battles an opponent's monster: You can target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy that target.

Personally my favourite Madolche card out there. She appears weak on her own but due to her effect her attack can be raised to a decent amount and with Château, to a maximum of 2300. Her effect allows her to effectively crash into a boss monster that you don’t want alive, or even run over a monster and destroy another card on the field. Not to mention the fact that she can be special summoned by Mewfeuille or even Ticket when using the Mewfeuille + Hootcake combo. Run 0-1.

Main combos

Mewfeuille + Hootcake
When you summon Mewfeuille, special summon this from your hand. Use it’s effect to banish a monster from your Grave and Special Summon Messengelato from your deck. This is a plus 2 because Messengelato gets a search (don’t forget to use the searched card immediately). Overlay to X-Saber Invoker and Special Summon another Messengelato. Overlay the two Messengelato for Queen Tiaramisu.

When you already have a Messengelato in your graveyard before attempting this, you can also choose to banish that Messengelato, then overlay to Leviair and summon the banished one. This can either cause a lot of damage or you can immediately overlay to Queen Tiaramisu.

Mewfeuille + Messengelato + T.G. Warwolf
This is basically the same as the above combo, except it’s TCG legal and doesn’t use the graveyard. However, it does require 3 cards in hand instead of 2.

Summon Mewfeuille, special summon Messengelato and search and use Warwolf’s effect. Use the searched spell, then overlay Warwolf + Mewfeuille to summon X-Saber Invoker. Use it’s effect to Special Summon another Messengelato from the deck. Last, overlay the two Messengelato’s and summon Queen Tiaramisu.

OTK: Magileine + Ultimate Offering

Summon Magileine and search Magileine. Activate Ultimate Offering and use it to summon the second Magileine. Do the same again and search Buttlerusk with the last Magileine. Summon Buttlerusk and search for Château. Overlay to Queen Tiaramisu and an XYZ that can detach material at that point (Fairy King Albverdich). Detach Magileine with that and then also with Queen Tiaramisu. Get two Magileine back to your hand and bounce two cards from you opponent’s field back to the deck.
Now, summon the two Magileine and search for Cruffsant and Mewfeuille. Summon Cruffsant and use it’s effect to send a Magileine back to your hand. Then summon the Magileine and search for Messengelato. Overlay the two Magileine and Cruffsant to Shock Master. Then summon Mewfeuille and use it to Special Summon Messengelato and grab a Ticket from your deck. Activate it and now you’ve got a strong lock. If you can freely direct attack or get over the opponent and OTK, call monster with Shock Master to cancel out the chance of Gorz or Tragoedia. Albverdich (2300) + Queen Tiaramisu (2700) + Shock Master (2300) + Mewfeuille (1000) + Messengelato (2100) = 9400. If you cannot OTK, call anything that’s appropriate.

Weakness

There are a lot of things that can hurt Madolche. One being anti backrow. Without their spells, Madolche cards cannot maintain control over the duel as they will slowly be outpaced. They use them to keep cards in their hand for reusing and plussing.

And speaking of outpaced, OTK decks are the worst matchups if they don’t have traps ready. Their monsters have very low attack and are easily overpowered. Their whole strategy is based around setting up for their (strongest) combo and that’s exactly what OTK decks want.

Lastly, cards that banish monsters are a pain for Madolche. Macro Cosmos completely shuts down everything they have: Field won’t activate, Ticket won’t activate and Hootcake is unusable. All they can do then is wait for Mystical Space Typhoon or the likes.

Side cards

Siding against Madolche can be dodgy and it all depends on what kind of Madolche deck they run. Your main goal should be canceling their effects and destroying the spells. Generally these cards will hit them where it hurts:

Breakthrough Skill (stops an effect)
Dust Tornado (destroys a spell)
Effect Veiler (stops an effect)
Fiendish Chain (stops an effect)
Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo (stops most of the spamming)
Macro Cosmos (cancels their recycling effects and doesn’t let Queen Tiaramisu have any targets in the Graveyard)
Maxx “C” (draw from their combos)
Skill Drain (cancels their effects)
Soul Drain (stops their recycling effects from being usable. However, it does not stop Queen Tiaramisu)
Abyss Dweller (stops their recycling effects from being usable. However, it does not stop Queen Tiaramisu)
Debunk (stops a recycling effect)
Droll & Lock Bird (slows them down if they have Ticket active)

im speechless this guide has everything there is to run this deck perfectly, some would say mewfuile and hootcake are the new magician shark, I also run this deck just some good tech cards I use are

trag: madolche's can really load up your hand and he can save you also hootcake fodder

fairy box: super troll card makes your opp monster atk 0 if you call the right coin flip your opp will always be afraid to atk your monster 500 LP is a small price to pay

shrink: personal preference, i like this more than lance when the opp is attacking

Great guide NickV two thumbs up
