A/N: Now first off, I apologize for the tad lateness of this chapter due to being busy, however, I'm sure most of you could manage an extra half day. But without further ado, Chapter Two is now available to read; So I hope you may enjoy it just as much as I wrote it.

As the tournament came to a close, Maria had now departed down through the streets of Domino City, simply staring at the card she was given by Pegasus for safe keeping, unsure why she was chosen for this, especially as she was given such explanations by the creator of Duel Monsters himself. “What did he mean by this card chose me to bear it?” she murmured to herself “I only just started duelling about three or so months ago, so for this to happen, why is that?” she continued to say softly. She soon stopped in the middle of the pavement, soon letting out a slight sigh before she looked up into the sky, staring at the white fluffy clouds gliding along “But I suppose it’s not every day you get asked a favour by the creator of Duel Monsters” she smiled softly, before looking back was in front of her, simply resuming her own pace “So I’ll do my best to prove to him he was right to have me hold on this card” she stated to herself, as she continued to walk along the streets of Domino City.

As Maria continued to walk along, she soon remembered some of the conversation that she had with Pegasus that day, as the scenario soon fades into a memory of hers, revealing both herself and Pegasus himself inside of that same room. Pegasus turned to look at Maria at the time, as she responded with a specific line; “There are six of these cards!?” she spoke with such a surprised tone, as Pegasus soon replied to that; “Yes, there are a total of six of these cards, each with its own element, however…” he paused slightly before sitting down on the chair opposite of Maria; “…two of these cards were stolen right under my nose by a researcher who worked at my company” he mentioned with slight disgust in his voice. Pegasus soon sighed softly; “However, if I can do anything to protect the remaining four cards, then I know it won’t have been for naught” he explained to the younger female, before Maria started to speak up once more; “So you mean that you’ll give these cards to just anyone?” she wondered slightly, before receiving a shake of the head from the creator of the game; “No, I cannot give these cards to just anyone, they have to be chosen by the cards themselves, or they’ll become mad in the head” he explained further.

Maria swallowed a little heavier at this, especially as she found there was something dangerous about these cards as well; “However, you need not worry my dear Maria, as this card has chosen you to possess its strength” Pegasus spoke with a smile upon his face. Maria blinked a little at this, wanting an extra explanation of this; “So, how did you know this card chose me, Mr Pegasus?” she asked softly of him, before he replied more or less right after being asked about it; “You’re duel with Joseph caused the card to glow and respond to your own duelling skills” he explained a little more; “So to make sure of this, I had to watch your next duel, to see if it would respond” he commented, before standing up once more. As he headed over to the window once more, looking down at the crowd below them; “It responded to your own confidence and inner strength, so I soon knew, that you were the chosen one to hold onto this card” he explained once more. Maria blinked a little before looking down at the card once more; “Are you sure it’s a good idea to give it to me? I won’t know if I’ll be able to keep it safe” she responded softly, before Pegasus turned around once more; “I may have a multi-million dollar company, but even I wouldn’t be able to protect this card for long” he commented.

“But, don’t you have high security safes for that?” she decided to say over at him, before receiving a soft chuckle from Pegasus; “I wish it was that simple my dear Maria, however, even my company isn’t as safe as you may believe it to be” he explained softly “But I know if the chosen duellists held onto these cards, the only way they can claim them properly, is through on certain way” he explained a little further. Maria blinked a little more at this, seeming quite confused; “What way is that?” she decided to ask of him, before soon getting a response; “Through a duel Maria” he easily mentioned. As the memory started to fade out, returning us to Maria’s current location in the streets of Domino City; “I won’t fail you Mr Pegasus, I’ll make sure to keep it safe” she muttered to herself as she stared at the card once more, before placing it into the deck holder she had against her waist, before continuing to walk down the streets of her home city, knowing that where she went, she would be alone at the time.

However, just as Maria believed she was all by herself as she roamed through the streets, a shadowy figure from upon the roof of a building was staring at her with a pair of binoculars, simply smirking as they watched. “So, there you are little girl” they chuckled softly, lowering the binoculars down “My lord shall be pleased once I retrieve that card from you, and then that’ll show him that I am capable of following him into the new world” they continued to chuckle, as our sight soon is impaired by that of a flock of birds, and after they have passed, the mysterious figure had simply vanished, as if they were not there to begin with. Maria on the other hand, headed through the streets without a second’s thought, simply smiling softly to herself as she had decided to head on home for now, in order to take some rest after today’s events, however, little did she know, that seemed rather impossible to happen.

As Maria had slowly come to that of the same street she lived upon, which surprisingly was only a couple of blocks away from that of the same home as the famous Yugi Muto, she started to pick up her pace, glad to be soon home. However, as she had looked ahead, a shadowy figure soon appeared from out the side of the road, soon heading into the same path as Maria, which of course, made her simply slow down into a walk once more, but what gave Maria the creeps, was the grin given by the human figure in question. The shadowy figure was currently wearing that of a pair black trousers, along with a navy blue shirt as it was surrounded by that of their of black cloak, covering their face with such ease. “So, this is where you live is it, Maria Sugihara?” they spoke with a cold, intimidating tone, simply giving Maria an evil glare of sorts “Now the real fun can begin!” they spoke with such an evil grin upon their face. Maria simply blinked a few times at this “What…what is that supposed to mean?” she spoke out of curiosity, as the shadowy figure soon pulled something out his pocket, simply tossing it over in between both themself and Maria, which appeared to be some kind of small, black sphere. “Abyss Duel Stage, begin” they simply muttered, as the sphere shattered into pieces, surrounding them both inside of a duel field, guarded by that of black and purple flames.

“What…what is going on here?” Maria stated rather quickly, as the field was now formed by that of the dark flames, causing Maria to stare at the shadowy figure. “Maria Sugihara, you have something that belongs to my master, and I’m afraid you won’t be leaving with it” they simply chuckled in such an evil tone “I still don’t understand why Pegasus still remains to keep them out of the clutches of our true lord, it won’t make any difference, no matter what the struggle” they continued to say. Maria continued to stare down the shadowy figure, being unsure what they meant at first, until they mentioned Pegasus “So you mean that card, don’t you?” she remarked to the mysterious person. “You were right on the money, Miss Sugihara, but I’m afraid there is no escape from this Duel Prison” they snickered some more “Its futile to attempt to stop me, for as long as you are in here, there is no stopping it” the continued to snicker. Maria looked at the wall of flames surrounding the whole field, before trying to touch it, only for the flame to react in a bad way, but fortunately, not burning her hand in the process. “I wouldn’t try that if I were you” the shadowy figure spoke up once more “because if your body is engulfed by those flames, you shall simply die” they laughed out in such a twisted tone.

“So the only way to get out of here is by finishing a duel?” Maria simply stated, before looking back at the cloaked figure “Am I right?” she added in. The shadowy figure simply smirked at this “That is correct, win or lose, it’s the only way to escape, but when I win, the card you possess shall be taken by me nonetheless” they laughed once more “So, what shall it be? A duel, or your life?” they simply stated. “I guess I have no choice” she simply murmured to herself, before staring back at the cloaked person once more “I accept your duel challenge” she stated with ease, as she switched her Duel Disk from standby to duelling mode. “I see that has put a little backbone into you, little girl, but it will not matter” they smirked rather evilly “As I, Strider, shall take you down like the weakling you truly are” he announced, soon switching his own black duel disk from standby to duelling mode, shoving his deck inside with an evil grin upon his face. “I won’t lose to someone like you so easily, Strider” Maria stated with confidence, soon placing her own deck into her duel disk, without realizing that another card had slid its way inside. Strider continued to snicker evilly, before soon pointing over at Maria “Then let’s begin, little child” he announced, before they both shouted out the same word together “DUEL!” as they both drew their first five cards, signalling the confrontation to start.

Chapter Two/A New Future: The Wings of Heaven Descend – Part Two

Maria Sugihara > 4000LP
4000LP < Strider

“Well little girl, the first move is mine to take” Strider chuckled, as he drew his next card from his deck, holding it up before placing it upon his duel disk “I’ll set this monster face down for now” he announced, as the card soon materialized in front of him, only revealing the back of the card in a horizontal position. He soon picks another card from his hand, placing it into the slot underneath the other card “Then I’ll set this down” he added, as the card soon materialized face down behind that of the face down monster “and I’ll leave it there for now, little missy” he chuckled in such an evil tone, knowing that no matter what Maria played, he had already countered it.

Maria looks at her current hand, before moving both her index and middle fingers above her deck, as her thumb was aside of the deck. “Then it’s time for me to spread my wings, I draw!” she announced, as she drew her next card before revealing a confident smile upon her lips, as she soon placed her drawn card onto the duel disk in question “I summon Archangel Claire in attack position!” she shouted across to her opponent, as the card soon materialized onto the field, before generating a three-dimensional hologram of her own monster.

As the hologram system increased its pace, the monster in which Maria summoned started to take form, revealing it to be a lovely feminine body with such luscious long, pale pink hair to compliment her own pale pink eyes. As her form continued to generate, it revealed her own slim figure as she was soon revealed to be wearing that of a white, slim fit vest blouse which suited her upper body nicely, and along with that of her pale blue frilly skirt which slipped down to just above her own knees, as her white silk boots soon came into view with a slight heel on the sole of her footwear. Soon her white, feathery wings spread out, revealing them only to be in the width of her own arms when stretched out, as she soon gave a rather cheeky wink with a smile, as her stats were soon revealed to Maria and her opponent.

As the feminine monster was soon revealed fully, Strider soon gave out a rather nostalgic snicker “Is that really your monster? I’ve never seen such a pathetic looking creature in all my life” he continued to snicker “And here I thought it was something impressive that would make Pegasus confident that the card was safe with you” he continued to comment in such a disgusted tone. “I must even admit, I’m rather disappointed that I couldn’t face a stronger opponent” he commented with a slight evil grin, as Maria continued to smile confidently “Don’t count my Archangels as weak monsters, they are stronger than you take them for, and with Claire’s ability, I’ll show you why” she announced, as Archangel Claire soon started to glow around the outline of her own body “Because you see, Claire allows me to add an Archangel monster from my deck to my hand when she is Normal Summoned to the field” she commented. Shortly after Maria’s monster started to glow, a card soon popped out of her deck, as she soon pulled it out and revealed it to her opponent “And the one I choose, is my Archangel Wingbeat” she mentioned with her smile still upon her lips.

Strider simply chuckled at this, staring at Maria with such cold eyes “If you really believe those little girly cards are enough to take me on, you have no idea what I am capable of” he simply chuckled some more. Maria soon pointed over at him, continuing to confidently smile “We’ll show you how strong we are together! Archangel Claire, attack his set monster with Heavenly Aura!” she announced with confidence, as he monster soon started to glow once more, sending such light towards that of Strider’s field causing the set card to be engulfed in such light, before shattering into pieces, with a slight glimpse of the monster in question, before it too shattered into pieces. However, Strider didn’t seem fazed by such a move “Why thank you little girl, as you have activated my set monster’s effect” he chuckled some, with such a cold grin “Because when Sangan is sent from the field to the graveyard, I’m able to add a monster with 1500 attack points or less from my deck to my hand” he explains, as a card popped out of his own deck, before he soon plucked it out and revealed it to his opponent “and the one I shall pick, is my Trance Archfiend” he announced, before placing the card into his own hand.

Maria quickly took notice of the card itself, before soon looking at the rest of her own hand, picking out a card from amongst them and sliding it into the slot underneath her current monster. “I set one card face down” she mentioned, as the card soon materialized just behind Archangel Claire, face down “and end turn there for now” she added in with a confident smile upon her lips, knowing she was ready for what was to come soon. However, Strider continued to reveal such a cold stare, before placing his fingers onto his own deck “My move now child!” he spat as he drew his next card, simply smirking at it as he soon noticed what card he drew from his deck “Well child, it seems your angels won’t protect you from what is to come” he chuckled, soon selecting a card from his hand, and placing it upon his own duel disk “I summon my Trance Archfiend in attack mode!” he announced with such a cold tone, as the monster in question soon materialized onto the field in front of Strider’s own face down card. As soon as the monster soon materialized, it appeared to look like a skinny, purple leather skinned demon with such a toothy grin upon its face. Its stats were soon revealed to both of the duellists in question.

“Next, I shall use my monster’s ability” Strider chuckled softly, soon plucking a card from his hand and placing it into his graveyard slot upon his duel disk “With its effect, its attack increases by another five hundred points by discarding a fiend from my hand to the graveyard, until the end phase” he explained with such an evil grin upon his face.

Trance Archfiend: ATK/1500 > ATK/2000

“Oh, and don’t think you’ll be getting off that easy either” he chuckled some more “Because I activate my Archfiend Heiress’ effect in the graveyard” he announced, as a shining, silver glow emerged from his graveyard slot. Strider continued to grin in such a malicious way “Due to Heiress’ effect, I can add an Archfiend card from my deck to my hand” then a card soon popped out of his deck, before immediately being plucked out by him, revealing it to his opponent “So I shall add this, my Archfiend Emperor to my hand” he grinned, before placing it into the rest of his hand. “Now, how about we rid the field of your little monster, child” he snickered as he pointed over at Maria’s monster “Trance Archfiend, attack her meaningless monster with Hypnotic Destruction” he announced, as his monster’s eyes immediately glowed a blood curdling red, causing the angel to look in fear, before shattering into pieces, and cause damage to Maria’s life points. However, something was amiss, as Maria felt as if something hit her body hard, causing her to fall to one knee suddenly. “What…what was that?” she muttered to herself, before receiving an evil laugh from Strider.

Maria Sugihara > (-200LP) 3800LP
4000LP < Strider

Strider continued to laugh in an evil manner “Well, it seems you are the first to feel the field’s ulterior influence” he commented with such a cold smile “Because with every bit of damage we may receive from the duel, we feel it against our own bodies as well” he chuckled some “This is the power we’ve been given, the power of a real abyss, and only us Duelling Assassins may wield it” he soon laughed out evilly, as if his victory was certain. Maria soon stood back up on both her feet, looking over at Strider as she couldn’t believe what happened “So in other words, if I lose, it would feel as if I was beaten to a pulp?” she questions him, as he continue to laugh, before soon getting a response from Strider “That is correct little girl, so I hope you are ready, because there is so much more to come!” he continued to chuckle before plucking a card from his hand, sliding it into a slot underneath the base of his duel disk “I place this card face down, and leave it up to you” he chuckled a little more, as the set card soon appeared aside of the other set card that Strider had prepared for his opponent, as his current monster’s attack returned to its normal status.

Trance Archfiend: ATK/2000 > ATK/1500

Maria knew now that this duel was more than just normal now, as she realized that if she got that amount of pain from just a couple hundred life points damage, then taking a huge hit would be life damaging. She soon placed her fingers in position, gripping the top card of her deck firmly “It’s my turn now” she announced, drawing her next card and soon selecting her next card within a matter of seconds “I summon out Archangel Rose in defence mode” she proclaimed, as the card soon appeared onto the field, before starting the process of generating its form.

As the three-dimensional hologram generator soon begun its process, it revealed that of another feminine form but seemed slightly shorter than that of the rest of her monsters as of so far. Despite its height, the rest of its stature started to take form as it revealed that her hair was light purple that flowed down to that of her shoulders, which suited her own beautiful, sky blue eyes. As the rest of her form took shape, it revealed that her clothing was rather plain and yet beautiful as it was a rather elegant white dress that flowed down to just under her own knees, which was easily complimenting that of her own white strap high-heeled shoes. As she looked over towards that of the opponent, she slipped onto the card of her own form, sitting down with her legs curled slightly to the right hand side; her white, feathery wings soon spread out, revealing how glamorous they really were. As she softly smiled, her own stats were revealed to both her owner, and that of her opponent.

Strider couldn’t help but chuckle at this, as he believed that such a feeble creature was no match for that of his own fiends. “Getting desperate now are we, little lady?” he continued to chuckle, as Maria continued to look at him with a smile upon her lips “That isn’t my only move you know Strider” she decided to speak up, before picking another card from her hand, sliding it into the slot underneath the base of her duel disk. Strider was slightly interested to see what she was about to play; “I activate the Spell card; Angelic Alliance” she announced, as the card soon appeared in its card state behind that of her own monster “Thanks to my spell card, I can summon another Archangel from my hand to the field” she explained, as she plucked another card from her hand, placing it upon her duel disk “So I summon Archangel Wingbeat to the field in attack position” she proclaimed, allowing the three-dimensional generator to take action.

As the monster slowly began to take form, the first thing to notice was its six beautiful, pink feathery wings wrapping around its body. Slowly, the form of its clothing came together, generating as lovely snow-like white, one piece dress with a light pink sash around the waist. The boots soon generated on her feet, revealing them to be as white as the dress, slowly forming all the way under the feminine body’s knees. As it slowly guided its hand up into the air, a rather long, rose-like red sword appears into her hand, before she pulls it down and points it towards her opponent. Her stats were soon revealed to that of Maria and the rather creepy Strider.

Strider seemed unfazed by such a clever play, causing him to just chuckle in a rather evil tone at the time. “Is that supposed to impress me little girl? You have no idea of my deck’s potential, do you?” he continued to chuckle. Maria was confident in her own move, knowing it would prove useful in the upcoming turn; “Now Archangel Wingbeat will attack your Trance Archfiend with her Heavenly Sword!” she declared with confidence, as he monster soon spread her wings further, flying at such speed towards that of Strider’s field, slicing through his monster as if it was merely a twig, shattering it into pieces with such a stunning attack, causing little damage to that of Maria’s opponent at the time. However, what shocked her most was the fact that Strider seemed unfazed by the damage, not even flinching once.

Maria Sugihara > 3800LP
(-100LP) 3900LP < Strider

“Wait a minute? How come you didn’t feel that damage?” she asked of Strider, as her monster soon returned to her side of the field, holding her sword down slightly. Strider couldn’t help but laugh at this “Did you really think that such pathetic damage would harm someone who serves under our lord and master, little girl?” he continued to laugh, revealing such a devilish grin upon his lips. Maria could only think of him as a monster of sorts, to be used to such pain in such conditions “Then I guess I’ll end my turn there for now” she mentioned over to him, as she saw how he grinned like this was actually just fun and games.

“Now it is my turn, is it?” Strider chuckled, as he drew his next card with ease, before easily deciding his next move; “To be honest, I was thinking of just playing around with you for a little while, but seeing as you are rather feisty, I suppose I may as well play my best cards right away” he chuckled rather devilishly. Maria was unsure of what was to come, but she knew that with two monsters, she would have a chance against this demon of a duelist, or so she would hope to do. “Now, let’s see how you stack up against this being of pure darkness, child!” he laughed, soon plucking a card from his hand, placing it upon his duel disk with ease; “I summon my Archfiend Emperor, The First Lord of Horror!” he announces, as darkness soon surrounds that of his field, allowing the three-dimensional hologram system do its job, revealing the creature of such terror emerge upon the field. Its form appeared to look like dark purple armour made of demon’s skulls and bones, holding a sword which was covered in demonic blood. And as it stared upon its next victims, its stats were soon revealed to Maria rather easily.

“Fortunate for you little girl, that my Emperor is so mighty, summoning him without any souls in exchange halves his attack and defence within a moment” he chuckled slightly, as if he was unfazed by this fact at the time.

Archfiend Emperor: ATK/3000 DEF/2000 > ATK/1500 DEF/1000

“However, his ability is still just as deadly as his almighty power” he mentions, continuing to reveal such a devilish grin upon his face; “Because by banishing a Fiend, I can rid the field of one card with such ease” he chuckled slightly once more, as a card soon popped out of his graveyard slot. He picks up the ejected card, placing it into his deck holder easily “So by banishing my Archfiend Heiress, your Wingbeat is now merely a snack for my Emperor to feed upon” he chuckled evilly, watching as his monster soon raised its sword rather easily, holding it above that of Maria’s monster, before slicing it right through her monster’s body, shattering it into many pieces with ease. Maria was fazed by this, not expecting a monster such as this to be able to reduce her ready field down by one already, and without an attack either. “Now, next is your lonesome monster, which will soon meet its pathetic friend in the graveyard!” Strider laughed so loud, and so evilly as well; “Archfiend Emperor, strike down her little monster with your Terrifying Sword!” he announced with such blood lust in his tone.

At this command, Archfiend Emperor soon lifted up its sword once more, before swinging it across and slicing Maria’s angelic monster in half, shattering it into pieces with such ease, however, Maria seemed slightly unfazed by this, as it would prove useful for her next move in which was about to execute. “Since Archangel Rose was destroyed by your monster, I can activate her special ability!” she announced, as her monster’s card materialized onto the field once more, just without that of her three-dimensional monster; “You see, due to her own effect I can special summon an Archangel from my deck directly to my side of the field, however, she must be in face-up defence position” she explained. After she had explained the effect of her angelic monster, a card soon popped out of her deck, in which she plucked out rather easily, and then placing it upon her own duel disk “With Rose’s effect, I’ll special summon my Archangel Vanessa in defence position” she announced, as the three-dimensional hologram generator soon started its process.

As the body started to form, it revealed a female figured body with long flowing strawberry blonde hair reaching down to her waist, along with her silver like eyes. Soon enough, her dressing attire started to form completely, revealing a short length, grey with white floral patterns kimono as if it was a short based dress, with a white soft leather belt around the waist, as well as a pair of white knee high, flat sole boots. In her right hand, held a long thin blade known as a rapier, as well as growing out of her back, was a pair of majestic snow white, feathery wings. It soon moved down onto one knee, holding its sword down against the ground as her stats were soon revealed.

Strider couldn’t help but chuckle as he saw such a pathetic, cowardly play such as that “So you used that monster to help you gain another? How desperate must you be, little girl?” he chuckled, revealing his everlasting, cold grin. “My monsters aren’t as weak as you claim them to be Strider” she shouted across at him, ready to prove her own strength in this duel against such a diabolic person. Strider on the other hand, continued to chuckle “You really believe you are going to win this bout? You really are delusional little girl” he continued to chuckle. Maria gritted her teeth slightly at this, as Strider continued his own turn with such a devilish grin still upon his face; “I believe I shall finish my turn there for now, but due to my Archfiend Emperor’s effect, he must be rid of from the field, since I summoned him without a tribute” he explained, as the three-dimensional hologram of his monster evaporated from the field, before he picked his card up, sliding it into his graveyard slot; “Now it is your move, child” he chuckled.

Before Maria could respond with her move, our scenario switches to that of another, replacing it rather easily to the dark room in which Darren had currently occupied, looking up at what seemed like a hazy mirror of sorts, made of nothing but purple mist. Darren had been watching the duel from his black throne at the time, with a slight smirk upon his lips; “Well, it seems that my duelling assassin is actually good for something” he chuckled softly, as crimson red eyes appeared behind him, as he continued to sit back slightly; “Yes, it seems you have chosen a perfect opponent for that little child” a demonic voice spoke up, chuckling a little itself. Darren couldn’t help but smirk a little more at this “Yes, Strider has not failed me once since I took him under my wing” Darren sniggered once more “I’m rather pleased of his play style, to bring her to the brink of defeat without having so much of breaking a sweat” he added in as he continued to smirk. The demonic voice behind him chuckled once more; “Your assassin has certainly struck some fear into her eyes, I can feel it so easily” it continued to chuckle “I feel myself getting stronger already, and with more pain, comes more strength upon myself” it explained with a demonic tone.

Darren soon stands up from his throne, smirking some more as he moved a little closer to the mirror made of purple mist; “All Strider needs to do is reduce her life points to zero, and that card shall be ours for the taking” he chuckled softly “And as promised, those who do as I ask, shall be granted passage into the new world, provided by you” he added in, as he continued to smirk. The demonic voice couldn’t help but chuckle; “Yes, that is the agreement we made together Darren, but as I told you, only those who are worthy may be granted access to the new domain” the voice spoke with such a devilish tone. Darren turned his head slightly to the right; “I am fully aware of that, but do not worry, as I only plan to allow thirty souls other than myself to be given refuge to your power” he comment, as he grins some more. The demonic voice behind Darren’s throne focused its eyes a little; “Yes, I mentioned that you could bring thirty others to join you in my new world, and a promise is a promise, but only if you keep your side of the bargain Darren” it explained with such intent.

Darren nodded his head at this as he continued to reveal his evil grin; “I am very aware of the bargain we struck together, and do not worry, I shall help you retrieve those cards, then your power shall be unmatched” he chuckled softly. The demonic voice was rather pleased by this; “Yes, and the first to feel such torment, is that child there” it chuckled demonically “After all, she possesses one of the cards that I fear most of all” it explained. Darren turned around, heading back up to his throne, sitting back into it; “Yes, that card would cause us many problems if we allow such a pathetic soul to continue holding its power” he snickered, leaning his head against the palm of his hand, leaning against the arm of the dark throne; “As long as Strider does not fail me, we shall have nothing to worry about from such a potential risk” he chuckled once more, as he continued to stare at the duel in process, as our scenario soon diverted once more to the duel at hand, with Maria’s next turn taking place.

Maria placed her fingers against her deck, ready to make her next move; “Ok, I draw!” she announced, drawing the next card of her deck and holding it up closer so she can see it easily. When she had noticed what card she had drawn, she then slides it into a slot underneath the base of the duel disk, easily revealing it to be either that of a Spell or Trap card. “I activate the Spell card; Heaven’s Temptation!” she announced, as the card’s hologram soon generated in front of her; “Thanks to my Spell card, I can send one Archangel in my hand to the graveyard in order to draw two more cards” she explained, before plucking a card from her hand and placing it into her graveyard slot; “So I’ll discard my Archangel Eliza to use the Spell’s effect” she explained further, before drawing another two cards from her deck, and adding them to her hand.

Strider simply chuckled at this rather easily; “Do you really think that will save you, child?” he chuckled further, as he continued to grin. Maria simply stared at her devilish opponent; “It helps more than you think it does” she claimed, before placing her hand over the top of her monster card currently on her duel disk; “So next, I’ll switch my Archangel Vanessa from defence to attack mode!” she proclaimed, as the monster’s hologram soon stood up on both her feet, holding her sword firmly in hand. Maria knew that this was her best move for the time being, as she knew not was his face down cards were; “Ok then, Archangel Vanessa, attack his life points directly with Angelic Blade!” she announced, as he monster’s wings spread wide, flying over towards that of her opponent’s field with ease. However, Strider simply grinned once again at such a move, knowing as if it wouldn’t matter at the moment; “You think a simple attack such as that is enough to take me on, little girl? Don’t make me laugh” he chuckled, before pointing over at his right face down card; “I activate the Trap card, Archfiend’s Roar!” he announced, as the card soon flipped up, revealing the picture art of it easily; “With this card’s effect, I can pay a measly five hundred life points to resurrect a fallen Archfiend monster of mine” he chuckled, as the Trap card took effect.

“Now live once more my fallen monster! Archfiend Emperor!” Strider announced with a devilish tone, as a swirling vortex what seemed to be made of blood appeared in front of him. As the vortex continued to increase in size, the head of his monster soon emerged from inside of it, slowly raising up from such a devilish way; “I’m afraid little girl, you have no chance to at getting to my life points this time” he chuckled with such ease, as the monster’s stats were revealed once more.

Maria immediately took notice of the monster being revived, before thrusting her hand forward rather quickly; “Archangel Vanessa, cancel the attack!” she shouted across at her monster, who stopped in place immediately, only a few metres away from that of the opposing demonic monster. Maria’s monster then soon returned over to her side of the field within a few seconds, holding her sword firmly in her hand still; “Just because you stopped my attack, doesn’t mean your monster will remain on the field for that long” she mentioned with confidence. Strider couldn’t help but chuckle once more; “You are correct, my trap only allows my monster to remain on the field for one turn, but…” he grinned slightly “…that won’t make too much of a difference for me” he chuckled some more, before pointing over at his over face down card; “I activate the Trap card, Fiendish Devastation!” he announced, as the card soon slipped up to reveal its picture art rather easily.

Maria was immediately unsure of what the card would do at the time, but she was sure enough, that Strider would explain its effect. “Now due to my Fiendish Devastation Trap card, I can tribute one of my Fiend-Type monsters and then inflict damage to your life points, equal to its original attack” he explains, with a rather devilish grin upon his lips; “So now, you’ll be receiving a total of three-thousand damage” he chuckles quite evilly. This of course caused Maria’s eyes to widen immediately, as the monster opposing her moved a little closer, before exploding on the spot, hitting her with the damage she would receive. “AHHH!” she screamed as the explosion continued, soon knocking Maria down onto the ground with sudden ease.

Maria Sugihara > (-3000LP) 800LP

Strider couldn’t but laugh as he saw how much damage was caused to that of Maria’s life points; “That’s where you should be little girl, on the ground, to give up on duelling me” he continued to laugh out, knowing that Maria had no chance against him, which seemed to please him at the time; “If you want to give up child, I’ll show you mercy” he chuckled some more; “Just surrender the duel, and it will all be over” he continued to chuckle softly. Just as Strider continued to chuckle, Maria started to move herself a little, pushing up off the ground as she looked over at Strider; “So, you refuse to give up on me? Very well, then I shall end this soon enough” he mentioned with an evil grin. As she soon stood back up on both her feet, she breathed heavily as she held her cards in her hand firmly enough; “I’m…I’m not giving up yet, I still have the chance to win this” she comments, as she continued to look over at Strider; “This…this duel has only just begun” she added, as her deck glowed a pale gold without both her and Strider realizing about it.

“I…I end my turn there” she spoke up, as she continued to remain stood up, facing her opponent. Strider once again, snickered at this; “Well, you certainly have some guts little girl, but…” he spoke, before removing his hood that covered most of his face, revealing his right eye with a bright red scar across it, and that of a pale silver iris and pupil in the right eye itself; “…it doesn’t matter how much of a fight you put up, because our master shall win in the end, and I’m afraid your time has nearly come to an end” he laughed out once more, in such an evil tone. Strider thrust his right hand out towards his right hand side; “Once that card is ours, then the world shall be one step closer to its end…and its rebirth” he claimed with another chuckle “So if you surrender, I may allow our lord and master to allow you passage to our new world” he commented. Maria continued to stare at him, unable to believe that he would go so far, just to allow the world to come to its end; “You are a monster! Why do you want this world to end!?” she asked of him, only to receive a chuckle from Strider in the end.

“A monster you say? Oh no, I am merely a servant of our master” he explained with that same cold grin; “And soon, your life and everyone else’s who is not deemed worthy, shall meet their end!” he laughed out once more, as Maria was disgusted by this fact. As Strider continued to laugh out maniacally, the glow from Maria’s deck started to glow a little brighter, still not noticed by both of the duellists at the time; “The Abyss, shall end your miserable lives!” Strider laughed even louder than before, as the scenario was soon taken to behind that of Maria, as she looked over at Strider, as two crimson red eyes appeared into the sky itself. The scene started to fade out, as the crimson red eyes remained in place, glowing slightly before they too, went completely black.

Thanks for the comments on the chapter, and btw, my favorite of the cards Maria uses is Archangel Vanessa lol.

You won't have to wait too much longer until you see the conclusion of this duel, so no worries. Hope you'll enjoy the next just as much as this one.
