Tanukit Deck Guide Maxres12

For all who've met me online should have probably heard me talking about some "secret" batteryman recepie . No it's not it .But it's something else , underrated that deserves a shot .

Table of contents :

1. Monsters
2. Spells
3. Traps
4. Weakness
5. Side Deck
6. Deck Types
7. Example builds
8. Headache

Monsters
Tanukit Deck Guide Ponpok10

Quote :
When this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Level 2 Beast-Type monster from your Deck, except "Tanukit Ponpoko", in face-down Defense Position. You cannot Special Summon any monsters during the turn you activate this effect, except Beast-Type monsters.

Named after the sound it gives out while beating its stomach .
This is one of the deck's key monsters . Allows you to pick one of your other beasty friends and place it face-down on the field . His dissadvantages are obviously the low attack your going to leave face-up awaiting for the next turn to come and the fact your limited to special summoning only beast-type monsters for the rest of the turn.
Can be also a target for Masked Chameleon .

Run 3 .

Tanukit Deck Guide Tanuki11

Quote :
FLIP: Special Summon 1 Level 2 Beast-Type monster from your Deck, except "Tanukit Tantan".
The other side of the furry duo .
Offers a wide seliction of every level 2 beast-type monster in your deck. Another great search engine for the deck !
Alot of combos can be done after flipping this one ... It's eather you summon a level 2 to abuse it's effect , go into a nasty XYZ or both .

Run 3 .

Wind-Up Kitten

Quote :
You can target 1 monster your opponent controls; return that target to the hand. This effect can only be used once while this card is face-up on the field .

Mean kitteh . Bounce  , bounce !
Searchable target for Ponpoko , Tantan , Super-Nimble hamster . Can't complain from the effect , some people don't even notice it's available only once per being on the field . It's always good to have some of these left in the deck .

Run 2 .

Super-Mega Nimble Hamster

Quote :
FLIP: You can Special Summon 1 Level 3 or lower Beast-Type monster from your Deck in face-down Defense Position
.

Flip it in exchange for another flip ? And it may even surive for next turn ? Or just get tantan and keep the stall going . Or maybe a Nimble Momonga to anoy your opponent even more ?

Run 2 , if you have the space . Deffinetly going to need it .

Nimble Momonga

Quote :
When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard: Gain 1000 Life Points, then you can Special Summon any number of "Nimble Momongas" from your Deck in face-down Defense Position.

Here you have a monster ment for setting face-down . Get some LP and multiply it as much as your deck allows . Who woudn't be anoyed when the card that flips ends up being this ?
Only downside is also it's upside , meaning you can't flip the same turn to force an XYZ at the second main phase .

Run 3 .

Ryko , Lightsworn Hunter

Quote :
FLIP: You can target 1 card on the field; destroy that target. Send the top 3 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard.

At a start something to get you a grave . If your playing Junk Syncrhon , Masked Chamelon , Redox it can be helpfull . Otherwise just clear treats . Extremely helpfull when your opponent has a Necrovalley , Macro Cosmos face-up .

Run 1 -3 . I prefer 2 .

Tree Otter

Quote :
Once per turn, if you control another face-up Beast-Type monster, you can have 1 face-up monster you control gain 1000 ATK until the End Phase.

There's a build focusing arround this card . Trick is to either get it in your grave or protect a flip effect searcher . Your also required to have a Junk Syncrhon in your hand . Use synchron or flip the monster , activate Inferno Reckless Summon , now you have 2 - 3 effectful Otters . Use them all up on a special summoned one . Use a weak one and Junk Syncron to get out a high attack Junk Warrior . XYZ Number 64 : Sandayu and get a copy of that Junk Warrior . And maybe another one next turn , if your opponent lives that long .
Otherwise it's good for beating monsters with less than 2200 atk .

Run 3 or 0 .

Sea Koala

Quote :
Once per turn, if you control another face-up Beast-Type monster, you can have 1 face-up monster you control gain 1000 ATK until the End Phase.

This looks like Tree Otter , but better when it doesn't come to spamming . Downside is there wouldn't be any attack to copy if you decide to XYZ it . But never the less your token would have been self destructed and now you can keep it . ( even with lower atk )
You can always XYZ a Daigusto Phoenix and deal 3000 damage if you don't have other plans .

Run 0 - 2 .

Junk Synchron

Quote :
When this card is Normal Summoned, you can select 1 Level 2 or lower monster from your Graveyard, and Special Summon it in face-up Defense Position. That monster's effect(s) is negated.

You've probably met this atleast 20 times in your life . Shame on you if you haven't
Targets almost every monster in the whole deck . You will definetly find use of this . USE THIS . Go back to Tree Otter for more options .

Run 2 - 3  .

Masked Camaleon .

Quote :
Cannot be Normal Summoned if you control a Level 5 or higher monster. When this card is Normal Summoned: You can target 1 monster with 0 DEF in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target in face-up Defense Position. Its effects are negated. You cannot Special Summon any other monsters, except from the Extra Deck, during the turn you activate this effect.

Only targets for it are those 3 Ponpoko . Don't play it unless you really want Naturia Barikon . More often a dead draw .

Run 0 or 2 .

Psychic Commander

Quote :
When a Psychic-Type monster you control battles, during the Damage Step you can pay Life Points in multiples of 100 (max. 500) to have the monster it's battling lose that much ATK and DEF, until the End Phase.

Main reason for running this is Naturia Beast . Can be helpfull during the damage step also . You won't regret running this , if you can afford it .

Run 2 , along with Emergency Teleport .

Dark Deserttapir

Quote :
When this card is removed from play, you can select 1 Level 4 or lower Beast-Type monster in your Graveyard and Special Summon it.

Another good tech . It's either you have it in your grave and banish it with Redox or main Gold Sarco for something you've previously used .
Downside is that it's obviously uselless while on the field , except for some XYZ plays .

Run 2 , if your playing Gold Sarcophagos .

The Fabled Cereburrel

Quote :
When this card is discarded to the Graveyard, Special Summon it.

Level 2 beast-type searchable tuner .
If you like Fabled Unicore you should give it a try . Otherwise , there are better options over it .

Run 2 or 0 .

X-Saber Airbellum

Quote :
When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent by a direct attack, discard 1 random card from your opponent's hand.

Earth tuner . And with that the description ends . ( jk )
It's effect for dropping cards from your opponents hand isn't pretty bad . Imagine your opponent attacks and you flip Horn of the Phantom Beasts , vice versa ? Main reason for playing this is Naturia Beast .

Run 1 , if you have the space .

Hane-Hane

Quote :
FLIP: Return 1 monster on the field to its owner's hand.

You probably wound't like seing this "big nosed reaper hanging on the wall" in your deck , if your an old player ( meaning you've seen this card as a free aditional start in most games . And is probably one of the first effect monsters )
It's like Wind-Up Kitten , difference is it's a flip effect . You should either run it or this .

Run 2 .

Redox , Dragon Ruler of Boulders

Quote :
If this card is in your hand or Graveyard: You can banish a total of 2 EARTH and/or Dragon-Type monsters from your hand and/or Graveyard, except this card; Special Summon this card. During your opponent's End Phase, if this card was Special Summoned: Return it to the hand. You can discard this card and 1 EARTH monster to the Graveyard, then target 1 monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target. If this card is banished: You can add 1 EARTH Dragon-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use 1 "Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders" effect per turn, and only once that turn.

It's like a monster reborn with a cost . Even maining monster reborn is not recommended in this deck , but if you really want to run it , go ahead . Can also help out that Dark Destapir .

Run 0 or 2 .

Green Baboon , Defender of the Forest

Quote :
If this card is in your hand or Graveyard when a face-up Beast-Type monster you control is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard (except during the Damage Step): You can pay 1000 Life Points; Special Summon this card.

You can play this along with Redox . First send it to the grave with to revive something else . Then you can revive it with it's own effect on the cost of 1000 LP . Can also be used as XYZ material with Redox as the other one . Most likely to be a dead draw .

Run 0 - 2 .

Key Mouse

Quote :
When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, you can add 1 Level 3 or lower Beast-Type monster from your deck to your hand.

Not much use of this one . Yes , it can search the whole deck and give you directly what your looking for , but there are better options over it .

Run 0 - 1 .

Debris Dragon

Quote :
When this card is Normal Summoned: You can target 1 monster with 500 or less ATK in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target in face-up Attack Position. Its effects are negated. This card cannot be used as a Synchro Material Monster, except for the Synchro Summon of a Dragon-Type Synchro Monster. The other Synchro Material Monster(s) cannot be Level 4.

Makes easy level 6 , 8  Dragon-type Syncrhos . Can target almost every monster in the whole deck .

Run 0 or 2 .

Swift Scarecrow

Quote :
When your opponent's monster declares a direct attack: You can discard this card; negate that attack, then end the Battle Phase
.

Avoid direct damage with this . It's not recommender for you to play this . May be a life save or a dead draw . And it's not like the deck can pull of some amazing swarm recovery next turn . Play waboku or Threatening Roar over this .

Run 0 or 2 .

Grandsoil the Elemental Lord

Quote :
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by having exactly 5 EARTH monsters in your Graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. When this card is Special Summoned: You can target 1 monster in either player's Graveyard; Special Summon that target to your side of the field. If this card leaves the field, skip the Battle Phase of your next turn.

This guy remind you of someone ? Me neither . Hard to summon , hard to draw at the right time . Level 8 . And you even get to skip your next battle phase when it goes to the grave .

Run 0 - 1 .

Ojama Engine :

Spells

Closed Forest

Quote :
All Beast-Type monsters you control gain 100 ATK for each monster in your Graveyard. Field Spell Cards cannot be activated while this card is face-up on the field. Field Spell Cards cannot be activated the turn this card is destroyed.

Their natural habitat . Run this , if most of your not running too much non-beast type monsters . Can give quite a boost on your tokens to over power the originals .

Run 2 .

Inferno Reckless Summon

Quote :
Activate only when 1 monster with 1500 or less ATK is Special Summoned to your side of the field while your opponent controls a face-up monster(s). Special Summon all cards with the same name as the Summoned monster from your hand, Deck, and Graveyard in face-up Attack Position. Your opponent selects 1 face-up monster they control and Special Summons all cards with that same name from their hand, Deck, and Graveyard.

Wokrs on 1500 or less atk monsters . And guess what . Your whole deck is in that criteria .  But don't let that fool you , it's pretty useless when your not maining Tree Otter and Junk Synchron .

Run 0 or 3 .

Tuning

Quote :
Add 1 "Synchron" Tuner monster from your Deck to your hand. Then send the top card of your Deck to the Graveyard.

If your playing a Tree Otter build , then you need this .

Run 2 or 0 .

Pot of Avarice

Quote :
Target 5 monsters in your Graveyard; shuffle all 5 into the Deck, then draw 2 cards.

Recover the previously used Momonga and some more flip effects and even get draws for that ? Makes you want to rage quit when you see your opponent doing that . It's not so hard to make your self a grave , considering almost every card in your deck has a reserved spot there to either force a bigger one out or just to activate it's own effect .

Run 0 - 1 , if you have space .

Emergency Teleport

Quote :
Special Summon 1 Level 3 or lower Psychic-Type monster from your hand or Deck. During the End Phase this turn, banish that monster.

Don't bother playing this unless you have Psychic Commander in your deck . Unless you want to look like a fool and waste space that is .

Run 3 or 0 .

Gold Sarcophagus

Quote :
Banish 1 card from your Deck, face-up. During your second Standby Phase after this card's activation, add that card to your hand.

Use this only if your maining Dark Destapir . Unelss you want to look like a fool and waster space that is . You can also target Redox with this and add another Redox , because thats the only Earth Dragon-type monster you have .

Run 3 or 0 .

Pot of Duality

Quote :
Reveal the top 3 cards of your Deck, add 1 of them to your hand, then shuffle the rest back into your Deck. You can only activate 1 "Pot of Duality" per turn. You cannot Special Summon during the turn you activate this card.

Your not going to special summon every turn with all those flip effects .
On the other hand don't you have enough searchers ?

Run 2 or 0 , if you have the space for it .

Creature Swap

Quote :
Each player chooses 1 monster they control and switches control of those monsters with each other. Those monsters cannot change their battle positions for the rest of this turn.

Too situational with all those Ophion and wisdoms running arround . But on the other hand you give your opponent your low atk monster for a bigger one .

Run 0 or 2 .

Book of Moon

Quote :
Target 1 face-up monster on the field; change that target to face-down Defense Position.

Allows you to use some of those flip effects again . Can come in handy in other situations to either stop XYZ plays , save your monster or help your token beat the original .

Run 0 - 1 .

Book of Tayou

Quote :
Flip 1 face-down monster on the field into face-up Attack Position.

Force flipping your monster to make quicker plays . It's not recommended you do so , because it's mostlikely to be a dead draw .

Run 0 - 2 , if you want it .

Traps

Threatening Roar

Quote :
Your opponent cannot declare an attack this turn.

One of your key cards . Keeps your monsters alive while your opponent can only wach . And it's always a good target for MST .

Run 3 .

Waboku

Quote :
You take no battle damage from your opponent's monsters this turn. Your monsters cannot be destroyed by battle this turn.

Similar to Threatening Roar .Only difference is your opponent can flip your monster . Run either it or this .

Run 0 or 3 .

Horn of the Phantom Beast

Quote :
Target 1 Beast or Beast-Warrior-Type monster you control; equip this card to that target. It gains 800 ATK. When the equipped monster destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: Draw 1 card.

Imagine the smile on the Spellbook user's face when seing a 3000 atk Naturia Beast .
This card can be handy when your deck has mostly beast-type monsters .

Run 0 or 2 .

Breaktrough Skill

Quote :
Target 1 face-up Effect Monster your opponent controls; negate the effects of that opponent's face-up monster, until the end of this turn. During your turn, except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 face-up Effect Monster your opponent controls; negate that target's effects until the end of this turn.

Negates some troublesome effects and can be used again while in the graveyard . You can mill it with Ryko .

Run 0 - 2 .

Super Rush Recklessly

Quote :
Select 1 face-up Beast-Type monster you control and 1 monster your opponent controls. Destroy your monster, and return the opponent's monster to the Deck.

Don't listen to anyone who tells you to play this card . It's just not worth it .

Run 0 .

Number 64 : Sandayu the Vetanuki

Quote :
2 Level 2 Beast-Type monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; Special Summon 1 "Kagemusha Tanuki Token" (Beast-Type/EARTH/Level 1/ATK ?/DEF 0). That Token's ATK becomes the same as the ATK of the face-up monster currently on the field with the highest ATK. While you control another Beast-Type monster, this card cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects.
The big mighty boss monster of the deck with the fearsome amount of 1000 atk .
But his copy cat effect compencates that part . If not anything else , it's atleast one for one with the opponents strongest monster currently on the field .

Run 2 - 3 .

Weakness

The deck's main wekaness is effect negation ( Skill Drain , Veiler , Break Trough ) . Summon negation isn't a very big threat as bottomless can't touch them . And who'd pay half of their LP to stop a flip ? Maybe a compulsory on your Sandayu can hurt as it's pretty hard to recover with a deck that is based on stalling .
Bad mach-ups can be Prophecy ( Unless your playing an E-tele build ) , Macro Rabbit , Bujin ( because it stops all the targets ) .

Side Deck

  • What to side when playing Tanukit :

Spoiler:
.

  • What to side against Tanukit :

Spoiler:

Deck Types : Pure Tanukit , Tanukit Tree Otter build , Tanukit Ojama ,  Tanukit Moja , Tanukit Monarch .

Example builds :

Tanukit Deck Guide Maxres13

Tanukit Tree Otter build:

E-Tele tanukit:

Tanukit Ojama:

Side Note : After clicking the "Preview" button all of the centers dissapeared . No biggie . A few more hundred minutes and I'll get them back !

A correction on Sandayu: the token copies the attack of the highest monster at the time the Token is Special Summoned. The copied monster doesn't have to have been Special Summoned. I played with them a bit. They're fun and can bring out some nice and big Tokens. I run the Redox and Ryko version. Might try the Naturia version. If only Rescue Cat was allowed...

Seems i've missread Sandayu in the begining when I first saw him and haven't bothered checking  again . Been testing different builds on DN , so haven't had the chance of seing how it copies a normal summoned one . And I guess my opponent woudn't mind me copying the highest SS'd monster instead of the highest atk ( if any difference ) .

Fixed .

And yes , Rescue Cat would make a fine addition to this deck . But it's not so hard getting 2 level 2 monsters face-up as it currently is - simply flip Tantan / Super-Nimble Hamster or just wait for next turn protecting something else .
