| Subject: Scrap-Iron Scarecrow- Underestimated Gem or One for the Scrap Heap Sun Nov 11, 2012 6:35 pm | This is a card I've recently fallen in love with. I acquired an ultra rare version the other day, and I REALLY want to use it in Gravekeepers. However, deck space is tight and I want to run a second Starlight Road to defend my gratuitous amounts of backrow. I wanted to know what people's opinion of it is and what it offers to decks that already run every control card in the book. I just want to have that extra bit of defense. Also, the ultra rare is REALLY shiny o.o Thanks

It's really usefull, since he is reseted after been used. Sure, your opponent will know your face down, so he will try to get rid of it with a MST, so your other set, who might be more horrible for your opponent , will be safe, but all depend of your opponent. It's a strong card, if you play more defensif than destruction. My deck is based on this: Block, and counter! |

Stall decks use it, but besides that, I think it's much more useful to use point removal like D-Prison, Soul Taker, Smashing Ground, Compulsory (only for Extra Deck monsters) instead of dragging the game on. |

I agree with you here. The thing is, I already run all of that point-removal as well as one starlight road. I know in my heart that an extra starlight would be incredibly beneficial for the deck, but I just really like Scrap-iron for some reason. |

It doesn't do anything for the gamestate except drag it out, which, unless your Deck focusses on doing that, doesn't give any real benefit.
Especially if you already run a lot of 1-for-1 traps (such as Prison), this card becomes even less useful, because you'll find yourself activating the Prison regardless. It gets even more lowered in Gravekeepers in my opinion, since they already run a big defense.
I've seen people write about this card in Malefics though and that's where I can see this card to have more utility. It's a Deck that brings out powerful beaters instantly, but it suffers from cloggy hands. That's where Scrap-Iron shines, because of the fact that it drags the game out long enough for you to draw cards to make your hand live again. The same theory goes for SDD/AM Decks, which are suspectible to OTKs.
So to conclude: A card that defenitly has merits, but you have to really consider what this card can do for your Deck and decide if it's an optimal one for it. In general, simple removal cards simply outclass this one. |

Also, since Gravekeeper's tend to enjoy simplifying the gamestate, keeping their monsters alive long enough to pull a descendant play is beneficial. My build techs Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo, so it's good to have consistent defense for him, since he makes sure my opponent can only summon once per turn anyway. |

Pachycephalo is used in some stall builds, but mostly used in stall which could use this as a tech. Still, most decks will run 1-for-1 S/T removal that'll take care of it to prevent it from being that beneficial. |
