| Subject: Facing the Meta: Evilswarm {pre-Pendulum} Mon Jul 01, 2013 4:42 pm | Yes Sheldon, spray those Evilswarm away. Welcome back to the 2nd article of Facing the Meta. Sorry it took so long, was busy while I was on holiday. So... Evilswarm... *lights a smoke*, where to start. Evilswarm, otherwise known as Verz, consist of previous DT archetype members corrupted by the Verz virus. For example, Bahamut/Brionac, Heliotrope/Gem-Knight Emerald, Castor/Pollux. You will notice this guide is quite small compared to Elemental Dragons: that's because the deck is so straight forward there really isn't much for me to say. PlaystyleThe play style of Evilswarm is quite simple. Please follow the steps below: 1. Summon Ophion via Rabbit, Castor, Kerykeion, Mandragora. 2. Detach a material and search Infestation Pandemic. 3. Set a few backrow for protection. 4. Watch as your opponent suffers. 5. Go kill yourself for using this boring and horribly consistent piece of crap anti-meta deck ~Sabb~ Sad thing is... that's is literally all there is to it. Idea behind Verz is quite simple: summon Ophion which will stop the special summons of any monster above LV 5 as soon as possible and play a grinding game. With Ophion sitting at a nice 2550 attack, it can be a pain to run over. Don't forget they can always tech in cards like XYZ Reborn, Macro Cosmos, Safe Zone... just to play around with you. An important thing to remember is while Ophion is quite well equipped to deal with Traps/Spells, monster effects can take it with ease: Armed Soldier, Fire Fist Bear, Caius etc. SidingThere are a number of siding you can do against Verz, like the Elemental Dragon article, I'll categorize the cards. The main cards I can think of to prevent the summoning of Ophion is the bottom two. Yes cards like Kristya will work but let's face it, who's going to hit the field faster? - Quote :
- Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo, Jowgen the Spiritualist
Monster cards that can be used to destroy Ophion with relative ease: there are obviously more but I'll just name the main ones. - Quote :
- Morphing Jar #2, Metaion The Timelord, Tsukuyomi, Gem-Knight Pearl/ Maestroke, Ryko, Snowman, Night Assailant, Penguin Soldier, Electric Virus
Finally, Spell/Traps, again I'll just post the main ones. - Quote :
- Fiendish Chain, Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror, Rivalry of Warlords, Forbidden Lance, Space Cyclone, Breakthrough Skill, Prideful Roar, Book of Moon
Personally I would've liked to go into more detail about how to counter Verz rather than just write down the side deck options, but there really isn't any substantial advice I can give regarding that: Most Verz will play a grinding game: don't let them build up The set card will always be Infestation so don't waste your MST's blindly Don't let them search Infestation if you can (Veiler, Compulsory)Good match-ups: Any deck that focuses on LV 5+ Bad match-ups: War Gods, XYZ-focused decks, Solitare (Burn, Final Countdown, Exodia) That's all from me for now, next one will be Spellbooks, which is the last of the 3 main Meta Decks this format. |

Go kill yourself for using this boring and horribly consistent piece of crap anti-meta deck ~Sabb~'' I beg to differ! Don't insult my babies like that! Be creative with the deck! Add techs! Don't main deck dark hole or heavy storm! xD ''4. Watch as your opponent suffers.'' I like this instruction the most Nice guide =) |

Oh the worst is ....evilswarm mirror..oh god..

WHen I manage to summon a big monster and i think: "phew finally i can summon it. now he can stop special summon all he want" next thing happen is that monster is taken control by Bahamut and then Ophion appear again. |

Like what stops summoning Ophion - Jowgen and Pachy ? Obviously they stop only rabbits , but clearly every other mained Evilswarm can beat it down and then XYZ . I'd say mention Imperial Iron Wall in this guide - it kills rabbits and Cercyon ( and some builds thar run DAD and BLS ) . Also could be mentioned that some builds nowaday run Garment .
Rather than that , it was a nice read . Keep it going !
P.S. 1 - Cercyon not Kerykeion . 5 - Cough * Says the one maining E-drags .

Yeah your points are valid but I was trying to talk about cards that stop Ophion itself, if we put other factors in then all the spell/traps are useless due to MST. This is just a basic summary of cards |

I myself hate(!) ophion and because of what he represent. he represent the dark side of yugioh, of a 1ST-turn play that shuts down the opponent completely, like jowgen and fate. we came here to play and have fun, right? isn't that yugioh? why should i lose g1 auto, and pray i draw my side G2-G3 and that the opp wont have any answer to them.
isn't penguin soldeir batter then MJ2? cause he will give them the option to immidietly summon ophion again, and penguin can stop for that turn. both ways ophion will go extra and they will probably bring him back really fast, which is a huge problem...
btw actually reaper can be funny! dress and safe-zone that target him will prevent from destroying himself right? so your only real out might be dire wolf which will be a waste of resources for him, and it can take time for him to bring. then you Reborn reaper!!! haha |

It's about facing them... aka how to counter certain decks, in this case countering Evilswarm. If you want a guide on a deck, visit the Deck Guides section. There will be a deck guide on Evilswarms very soon.
Also, please try not to insult the poster who spent time writing this, especially when it's you who missed the purpose of the article :/ |
